The Film, Television and Radio industry is exciting and offers a lot of possibilities for people with the right ambition.  While there are many similarities with writing to get published, with the ultimate goal to get an agent or publisher or, in this case, a producer, there also are some significant differences.

When writing the script for a movie or a television series, the motto is "Show, don't tell."  Logically, as the viewer can't see the thoughts a character might reveal while reading a book.  A script contains less direction and background information, and more dialogue and action.  If you have written a story for a book and want to turn it into a script, you can't just make minor changes to it.  It needs a totally new format; a format according to the standards of the screen media.  In the case of a radio programme, it goes a step further.  On radio, you can't show, just tell.  So a radio script has to be approached in a different way.
